Interoperability Task Group – G-PON

The FSAN Interoperability Task Group has the objective of enabling a full interoperability of PON systems based on FSAN/ITU-T specifications in a multi-vendor scenario. The group has worked on the BPON and GPON interoperability since the consolidation of the first Recommendations of the G.983 and G.984 series.

Main activities of the FSAN Interoperability are:

-  Editing interoperability Test Plan on physical and TC layers

  • This task has been successfully handled in the past and an official ITU-T document is available on GPON technology
  • Work on XG-PON1 Test Plan started in 2011

-  Interoperability test events

  • 3 events in 2010 focused on GPON technology
    • March 22nd to 26th in France organized by LAN
    • June 21th to 25th in US organized by UNH
    • October 11th to 15th in France organized by ETSI
    • Since june 2010, FSAN events are now open to Broadband Forum members, thanks to the efficient collaboration between the two Bodies
  • In 1H2011, FSAN and the BBF will jointly organize 2 GPON interoperability events
    • February 28th to March 4th in US organized by UNH
    • June 6th to 10th in France organized by LAN
  • In 2H2011, FSAN will hold the first XG-PON1 interoperability event, hosted by Telecom Italia, France Telecom and ETSI

-  FSAN OMCI Implementation Study Group (OISG)

  • OMCI Implementers’ guide written by this group is now an ITU-T Recommendation
  • This group is now in charge of describing OMCI messages sequences for Broadband Forum conformance document (WT-247)

-   Since the beginning of 2011, the group is focusing its studies on XG-PON1 technology
